H&FW department distributes mosquito nets in Karbi Anglong

Diphu, Nov.11 (EMN): The Health & Family Welfare department distributed ITBN mosquito bed-net in dengue-affected areas in Karbi Anglong on Friday.
In Diphu town, there has been an outbreak of dengue since October resulting in more than 300 positive cases and loss of four lives including one from Lumding.
During the bed-net distribution programme at Taralangso, Executive Member (EM), KAAC incharge of Health & Family Welfare, Surjya Rongphar, said as Diphu town is affected by dengue, the Health department is distributing medicated mosquito nets to every household in Diphu as preventive measures.
Stating that personal protection is the only prevention, the EM to avoid mosquito breeding, the surrounding areas should not be stagnant.
He also said people should take extra care during day time as the mosquito-carrying dengue germs are active during day time. While sleeping at night you should use mosquito nets, he added.
He also advised that if anyone gets fever they should not go for self medication but approach the doctors and take medicines according to their advice. The EM announced the medicated mosquito nets will be distributed to every household in 14 wards of Diphu town.
Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Johnny Timung advised people to take proper precautionary measures from the bite of dengue carrying mosquitoes.
Meanwhile, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has issued a notification stating that in view of the 71st commemoration of Karbi Anglong Day celebration on 17 November at Tarlangso, all office establishments under the administrative control of KAAC shall remain open on November and 13.
