Hotel, thatched house gutted by fire in Dimapur
DIMAPUR — A rice hotel and another thatched house located opposite the petrol pump at Kevijau colony, Dimapur, were gutted by a fire that broke out around noon on Saturday.
According to Fire personnel, the cause of the fire was due to LPG cylinder leakage emanating from the kitchen of the hotel.
When contacted, an officer of the West Fire Station told Eastern Mirror that on receiving a distress call around 12 pm, three fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire was doused within half an hour.
The fire completely razed down the hotel and an adjacent thatched house consisting of three rooms and a kitchen. However, timely intervention by the fire personnel prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings.
While there was no report of any casualty, the estimated loss to property was yet to be ascertained.
