Indian Army’s NAG Anti Tank Guided Missile destroys target in Pokhran
Dimapur, Oct. 22 (EMN): The Indian Army carried out final user trial of the 3rd generation Anti Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) NAG today, October 22, at Pokhran range.
This was informed through a press release from the ministry of defence.
The NAG ATGM was developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to engage highly fortified enemy tanks in day and night conditions. The missile has a “Fire & Forget” and “Top Attack” capabilities with passive homing guidance to defeat all Main battle tanks (MBTs) equipped with composite and reactive armour.
The missile was launched from a NAG Missile Carrier (NAMICA) which is a BMP II based system with amphibious capability.
The missile will be produced by Defence PSU Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), whereas Ordinance Factory Medak will produce the NAMICA.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh congratulated both the DRDO and the Indian Army for the successful trial of the NAG Missile.
