: Considering the requirement of Remdesivir for treatment of Covid-19 patients, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers on Friday announced the allocation of 5,30,0000 (53 lakh) vials of the anti-viral drug for states and union territories (UTs) for April 21 to May 16.

“This will ensure smooth supply of Remdesivir across country so that no patient face difficulty in this pandemic time,” PIB quoted Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers DV Sadananda Gowda as saying.

The Remdesivir allocation announced on Friday includes those issued on May 1 for April 21 to May 9.

The share of the anti-viral drug for Nagaland and other north-eastern states — Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim and Tripura – is 2000 vials each, while Assam will receive 31,000.

“The allotment has been made for the States/UTs and state governments and UTs have been asked to monitor proper distribution within the State/UT covering government and private hospitals as appropriate and in line with judicious use,” it stated.

Further, the Ministry has advised state governments and UTs to place adequate purchase orders with the marketing companies immediately, if they have not done yet, for the quantity they want to purchase out of allocation as per supply chain in close co-ordination with liaison officers of the companies.

The co-ordination with private distribution channel in the state could also be made, the Ministry stated.
