Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland district tour concludes

Dimapur, March 13 (EMN): The district tour undertaken by Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland (IRCSN) state headquarters, which began on February 21 concluded at Kohima on March 7. The IRCSN team led by its general secretary, Dr. Neiphi Kire, visited six districts namely Tseminyu, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon and Kohima.

An update from IRCSN has expressed happiness to note that all the deputy commissioners of the concerned district, who are also the chairman of the society, for their support and enthusiasm in the Red Cross activities.

It stated that the team has distributed blankets to the poor and needy in all the districts as well as hygiene kits which contained soap, tooth brush, tooth paste, shaving set, oil etc., to the villagers. It added that almost 400 poor and needy were given blankets, hygiene kits, face masks etc., during the tour programme.

The IRCSN team had thorough discussion with the district Red Cross officials in all the districts on issues of implementation and scaling up the Red Cross activities including junior and youth Red Cross.

It stated that IRCSN has decided to reactivate the Junior Red Cross in schools and Youth Red Cross in colleges.

The first phase of district tour culminated with a visit to Old Age Home at Meriema and AIDS Hospice at Seithogei in Kohima, where mink blankets, hygiene kits and face masks were distributed to the residents.

Meanwhile, the IRCSN has appreciated N Thongwang Konyak, MLA of Mon district, for his participation in the programme at Mon town.

The Red Cross team has planned to visit the remaining district in the near future. It further thanked all district Red Cross honourary secretaries and the deputy commissioners for their leadership and active participation in Red Cross activities.
