India’s Covid-19 death toll crosses 2 lakh; more than 3.6 lakh new cases recorded

Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): India recorded 3,293 fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s death toll to 201,187 at 1.12% mortality rate, according to the data provided by the Union Health and Family Welfare ministry.
The country also recorded highest single-day spike in Covid-19 infections since the pandemic outbreak last year by registering 3,60,960 new cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the active caseload to 29,78,709 and tally to 1,79,97,267.
Ten States — Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan – account for 73.59% of the new cases, stated Union health ministry’s data.
As many as 2,61,162 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s cumulative recoveries to 1,48,17,371 at 82.33% recovery rate. A total of 14,78,27,367 vaccine doses have also been administered through 21,18,435 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Wednesday.
