Intel to compete with AMD and NVIDIA with its Arc GPUs
These new Intel GPUs are expected to arrive in Q1 2022.
Dimapur, August 16 (EMN): American semiconductor giant Intel has just announced the brand name for its upcoming consumer GPUs: Intel Arc. The new Intel Arc brand will focus on hardware, software and services to help users “game, create and stream — without limits.”
The first generation of these new Intel GPUs, known previously as DG2, is expected to hit markets in Q1 2022 under the code name, Alchemist.
Intel shared a teaser video today showcasing the capabilities of its upcoming Alchemist GPUs. The video showed pre-production Intel Arc-based GPUs in action running games such as PUBG, Metro Exodus, Forza Horizon 4, and more.

Intel’s upcoming Alchemist GPUs is confirmed to be based on its Xe-HPG microarchitecture and rumours suggest that the performance is close to Nvidia’s RTX 3070 GPU.
Besides launching its new Arc brand, Intel has also confirmed the codenames of its future generations of Arc GPUs: “Battlemage,” “Celestial,” and “Druid.”
Intel’s Arc-based GPUs will feature hardware-based ray tracing, variable-rate shading and full support for DirectX 12 Ultimate. More importantly, Intel has confirmed its own version of AI-accelerated supersampling for upscaling video. This could be Intel’s answer to Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology and AMD‘s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR).
Intel’s Arc-based Alchemist GPUs will be available on both desktops and notebooks in early 2022.
