Interaction meet held to promote tourism industry in Karbi Anglong

Diphu, Dec. 20 (EMN): In order to promote the tourism industry in Karbi Anglong, the District Administration and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) organised a mini interaction event with tour operators at Diphu circuit house on Tuesday.

The interaction event was attended by various renowned persons of Karbi Anglong who shared the potentiality of tourism in Karbi Anglong.

Senior Journalist, Sanju Bora said, ‘the tourism potential of Karbi Anglong is very rich and some areas are still unexplored where flora and fauna are found. We have abundant resources in the district as well’. He said eco-tourism, adventure tourism, cultural tourism and wildlife tourism can be promoted.

The Assam Gaurav awardee and Evarester Khorsing Terang who is associated with mountaineering and has experience of more than 20 years shared about the trekking potentiality of Karbi Anglong. He said there are many good places for trekking and hiking.

Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong, Sanjib Kumar Saikia, APS said that there is no threat to security now as militants of Karbi Anglong have surrendered. He also assured that security will be arranged for the tourists from their end.

The interaction programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, Madhusmita Bhagawati, ACS; Actor Rajib Kro, and several others.

The delegation of tour operators who met with district administration and Karbi Anglong includes Tour Operators of Association of Assam (TOAA); Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO); Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WICCC) and Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India.
