KAAC election: Repoll conducted amidst strict vigil

Diphu, June 10 (EMN): Repolling was held in two polling stations — 16-Punja LP school and 17-Punja ME school — for the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Counicl (KAAC) election, which was held on June 8.
Incidents of violence and burning of ballot papers was reported in the two polling stations on June 8 due to which a repoll was conducted.
There are five contesting candidates in fray -Prabhat Chandra Taro from BJP, Bijoy Teron from Congress, Longki Timung from APHLC, Sorkar Phangcho from ASDC and Ramsing Engti as independent.
1815 voters exercised their franchise under strict vigil of Assam police and para-military personnel. The voting was peacefully held without any untoward incidents, Bolin Deori, Additional SP, West Karbi Anglong told media persons.
Counting will take place on June 12 at Hamren in West Karbi Anglong.
