Kabur Telok constructs footpath in Mokokchung town
MOKOKCHUNG — In a noble initiative, Kabur Telok of Salangtem Ward, a welfare group formed by 19 like-minded members, successfully completed the construction of a footpath for easy movement of school students on the busy street of Salangtem ward in Mokokchung town on Tuesday.
The street, where the footpath was constructed, connect three schools namely Edith Douglas Higher Secondary School, Jubilee Memorial School and GMS Salangtem as well as a Fellowship Church of MTBA.
“Considering the proximity of schools resulting in traffic congestion during rush hours, the Kabur Telok came up with a plan to construct a footpath taking student’s safety into consideration,” said one of the members adding that “We expect the footpath will significantly improve the safety and ease of movement for students in the area.”
The Kabur Telok informed that the group initiated a fund drive to undertake the construction and completed the project at an approximate cost of INR 90,000 with two-day intense voluntary labour force from the group.
