Karbi Anglong: Elected members appointed as executive members

Diphu, July 19 (EMN):  As per the order of the Governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi, the 13 elected Members of Autonomous Council (MACs) were appointed as Executive Members (EM) under the Executive Committee (EC) headed by Chief Executive Member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang in Diphu on Tuesday.

To complete the 14 required EMs, Mukut Mahanta was nominated as a member of MAC.

Announcing the names of EMs at the CEM official chamber of the old Secretariat building,  Ronghang said, “As per Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951, read with Rules 20 (1) and 19(1), the name of MACs to be appointed as EMs from the 26 elected MACs were sent to the Governor for his approval.”

He said, after getting Governor’s consent and clearance from the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the appointment of the EMs were made.

The CEM will hold the portfolio of Finance, Personnel (Council and Transferred sector), all centrally sponsored schemes and projects including 14 and 15 Finance Commission, special packages while any other subjects and departments were not allocated to any of the EMs.

The EMs with their allotted departments are: Mongolsing Timung PHE, Archeology and Museum; Amar Singh Tissot Agriculture, Land Revenue and Land Reforms and Excise;  D. Uphing Maslai Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Dairy Development;  Surjya Rongphar Health and Family Welfare, Art and Culture, Information & Public Relations;  Richard Tokbi Education; Prabhat Chandra Taro Soil Conservation and Industries & Commerce;  Lunsing Teron Irrigation, P&RD and Sericulture;  Rina Terangpi Social Welfare & ICDS and Library;  Ritesh Enghi Water Resources and Tourism;  Bili Mohan Khaklary Food & Civil Supply & Consumer Affairs and Transport;  Kangbura Killing Co-operative, Town & Country Planning and Town Committee Affairs;  Madhuram Lekthe Fisheries, Handloom & Textiles and Adult Education and  Mukut Mahanta DRDA, Printing & Stationery and Legal Metrology.
