Karbi Anglong: Farmers repair damaged canal after department fails
Our Correspondent
Diphu, July 5 (EMN): The villagers of Dhola Langso in Karbi Anglong took the initiative to connect a damaged irrigation canal of Dhola Langso to irrigate their field for paddy plantation on July 4.
After the irrigation department failed to repair the canal despite numerous complaints, the disappointed farmers from Tekela Ingti, Singnod Terang, Amreng Terang, Langmang Timung and Sarmon Rongphar of Dhola Langso with their own contribution bought GI sheets to repair the damaged canal temporarily in order to start cultivation.
The farmers criticised that the irrigation department under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) should visit in person and get it repaired so that during monsoon season there is sufficient water in the fields.
The farmers have urged Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang and Nilip Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Pobitra Rongpi to direct the concerned department to repair the canal.
