Karbi Anglong police apprehends five with ammunition

Diphu, Oct. 4 (EMN): As per the information received from Assam Rifles posted at Dimapur regarding movement of suspected persons with sophisticated arms and ammunition from Nagaland to Assam, the Karbi Anglong police arrested five persons on Oct. 2.

An update informed that during a checking at Naharjan under Chotolengri Petrol Post in Bokajan sub-division Karbi Anglong, a Gypsy without registration was stopped and on thorough checking, 3 AK 56, magazines, live ammunitions, one pistol with magazine and several live rounds, mobile phones etc. were recovered.

In this connection, five persons — Sgt. Ngampoi Vashim, Sgt. Maj Ashang Chithung, Lanchungrei Kamei, Lt. Khuikashung Thangkul and a civilian named Zingkhi Wungreingam were arrested. Four among the arrested individuals are from Nagaland, while Lanchungrei Kamei is from Cachar district of Assam, it stated.
