Diphu, Sep. 27 (EMN): TheKarbi Students’ Association (KSA) of the Inglongpho faction has demanded that the police officer of Dokmoka Police Station, Nilumoni Malakar should be suspended from service for the alleged physical assault of a woman inside the police station.

In a press conference the general secretary, KSA, Budho Terang said that since Aug. 30, Moneswar Kalita, a teacher of Rong Ar-e LP school has gone missing and is still traceless.

The police officer of Domoka Police Station, Nilumoni Malakar physically tortured Moriam Rongpipi, the wife of a teacher of the same school Kania Tokbi, who they considered as the prime suspects. Moriam Rongpipi is a cook in the mid-meal of the school.

The police tortured Rongpipi and another woman inside the police station while Tokbi was also beaten up.

‘How can a policeman, without the presence of women police, torture to women’, Terang questioned.

Rongpipi is said to be in serious condition and is being treated at Diphu Medical college and Hospital for medical treatment.

“We condemn the cruelty and highhandedness of the police officer and demand that he should be suspended from his service,” Terang said.

Terang also sought that the KSA will extend full cooperation in finding the missing teacher.

Likewise, the Karbi Anglong Women Justice Forum (KAWJF) and United Karbi Anglong Women Association (UKAWA) have jointly submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong on Sep. 26 and demanded suspension of Dokmoka Police Station OC for beating up Moriam Rongpipi causing grievous injuries.
