Kohima, Nov 4 (EMN): The final match of the KBC jubilee trophy (Koinonia Baptist Church) between Christ King Church (CKC) Kohima and Meriema Baptist Church will be played on Saturday 12:30 pm at Meriema ground, Kohima.
The tournament, which commenced on October 20, witnessed 27 teams from various churches.
The road to the final for Christ King Church began with an emphatic 8 – 0 win over Tuophema BC in the first round that secured them a berth in the pre-quarters. CKC outplayed Viswema CRC 3 – 0 to advance to the quarter finals.
In the quarter final clash, CKC sent home Phekerkriema BC and in the semi-final match against Tsiesema Basa BC, CKC again outgunned their rivals 3 – 2 goals to book their final berth.
On the other hand, Meriema BC started their campaign with a 2 – 0 win over Chiephobozou BC in the first round. In pre- quarters, Meriema BC edged past Koinonia Team ‘B’ 4 – 3 and beat Chedema BC 2 – 1 in their quarter final encounter.
Meriema booked their final ticket with a comfortable 4-2 against Chiechama BC in the semi-final.
The champions of final match will take home the trophy, citations and prize money of INR 1,00,000.
Meanwhile, Organising Committee XI drubbed Koinonia Men’s FC 4 – 1 in Friday’s exhibition match.
