DIMAPUR — The Kiphire District Commercial Vehicle Union (KDCVU) has reminded all stakeholders, including members, transport operators, drivers, and other concerned parties, of the mandatory adherence to the fixed freight rate set by the district administration in a bid to uphold fairness and equity.

In a press note, it stated that according to the official directive issued by the Kiphire Town Council, the district administration of Kiphire has set the freight rate at INR 3.50 per kg for long platform trucks (LPT) carrying commercial and essential commodities from Dimapur to Kiphire.

“This decision has been carefully considered, taking into account several factors, including the fuel prices and the considerable distance between the two locations. Additionally, the operation costs and maintenance expenses of the vehicles have been diligently considered in determining this fixed rate,” the statement read.

KDCVU informed all members, as well as all transport operators, drivers, and stakeholders, that adherence to the fixed freight rate is mandatory, and any commercial vehicle found not complying with the rate specified will face penalties imposed by the union.

To ensure strict adherence to the prescribed rate, a dedicated committee has also been constituted, which will monitor every truck and vehicle plying on the Dimapur-Kiphire route to ensure compliance with the order.

It cautioned that any deviation from the fixed freight rate will be promptly addressed, and appropriate action will be taken against the offenders.

The union sought the cooperation of all its members and the transportation community at large in order to maintain a fair and equitable transportation system, claiming that adhering to the fixed freight rate would not only support the sustainable operation of businesses but also foster a harmonious environment in the transport sector.
