KMC organises street play promotes cleanliness

DIMAPUR — As part of the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2024’ campaign, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), collaboration with the Swachhata Bharat Mission, on Thursday organised a street play at Old NST in Kohima to promote cleanliness.

The play was performed by the drama club of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, with an aim to raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces, stated a DIPR report.

Speaking at the programme, Neilhouphrelie Paphino, chief inspector of KMC, urged the shopkeepers and pedestrians to stop and watch the performance. He emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in keeping Kohima clean.

The deputy chairperson of KMC, Khrielievi Chüsi, encouraged the community to not only clean their homes but also ensure their surroundings are well-maintained. He stressed the need for a united effort to keep the city clean.

The impactful street play performed by the students portrayed the role of every citizen in contributing to the cleanliness drive, echoing the message of civic responsibility.

The initiative is part of a broader movement to engage communities in the mission to create a cleaner and healthier Kohima.
