DIMAPUR — Skill Development Cell and Students’ Welfare Committee of Kohima College celebrated its annual autumn carnival on October 16.
The highlight of the carnival was the ‘Contributed items stall,’ where faculty, staff, and students came forward with generous donations of a wide range of items, all available at nominal prices.
A DIPR report stated that the proceeds generated from the stalls would be channeled into the “Need-based grant-in-aid” fund, which provides financial assistance to students hailing from underprivileged backgrounds to pursue their education.
Kethosenuo Kesiezie, chairperson of the event, emphasised the significance of community support and the college’s commitment to breaking down financial barriers to education. She stated that the “Contributed items stall” stood as a testament to the dedication of Kohima College to the noble cause.
Initially established as the “Poor students fund” in 2017, with contribution of INR 10000 from the then Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya, it stated that the initiative has since evolved into a vital resource that aids underprivileged students at Kohima College in achieving their academic goals.
The day’s proceedings commenced with an invocation prayer said by Khekali Sema, which was followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Vitsosie Vupru.
It stated that minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, attended the event.
