Kohima, Aug. 24 (EMN): While many places of interest in Nagaland have been opened to citizens and visitors with the announcement of unlocking phases, Kohima War Cemetery, a tourist hotspot situated in the state capital, has remained closed to public since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
Reliable sources informed Eastern Mirror on Tuesday that the war cemetery might not be re-opened to the public any time soon.
It was informed that all the cemeteries across the country maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission had been remaining closed to public owing to Covid-19 issue.
Former Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, had visited the war cemetery earlier in February this year when he came to Nagaland.
Meanwhile, an official from the Tourism department informed this newspaper that they had stopped all offline activities related to tourism except conducting webinars.
