Dimapur, April 27 (EMN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kohima, conducted a one-day training programme on capacity building at Chunlikha village under Tseminyu sub-division in Kohima district on April 24.
An update from KVK Kohima stated that the resource persons of the programme were Puchono Kweho, subject matter specialist (agronomy), and Eliseni Tsopoe, subject matter specialist (plant protection).
During the technical session, Puchono Kweho, spoke on the topic ‘Agro biodiversity in jhum’ and shared on the importance of afforestation, introduction of leguminous crops etc. to ensure sustainable maintenance of the environment and productivity in jhum cultivation.
Eliseni Tsopoe has stressed on the contribution of mushrooms to the livelihood of rural dwellers. ‘‘Mushroom production helps in improving food security and boosts income generation because the cultivation process takes a short period of time,” she pointed out. Besides, she also conducted a demonstration on mushroom cultivation.
Altogether, 15 farmers of Achunlizie (SHG) from Chunlikha village participated in the training. Various summer crops seeds and mushroom spawn were also distributed to the participants.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries have expressed gratitude to the organiser for conducting the training programmes.
