Dimapur, Nov. 24 (EMN): Landowners/ Pattadars, whose lands in Dimapur town are under army occupation, have appealed to the district administration and concerned authorities to expedite and finalise the protracted matter and hand over their lands at the earliest.

In a representation to the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, the landowners have alleged that their lands are no longer safe as encroachment under army occupation is taking place.

It, therefore, stated that the members during its general meeting on November 14 at Hotel Acacia have resolved to construct temporary (kutcha) fencings to protect their land from further encroachment.

The representation, jointly appended by its president Chupfuo Kense and the general secretary K Thong, regretted that the district administration and the security forces have failed to provide full protection to their land.

Referring to an RTI reply dated October 20, 2020, it stated that the joint survey maps of army occupied land done in 2019 was yet to be approved and signed by the Board of Proceeding.

As per information received in October 2019 through RTI Act of 2005, the total land area of 75,345 acres in various pockets of land in Dimapur is under army occupation, the landowners claimed.

In the light of the above-stated circumstances, the landowners appealed to the district administration and concerned authorities to expedite the matter and hand over their lands at the earliest.
