Lawmaker distributes free rice, dal to senior citizens and needy

Kohima, March 28 (EMN): Khriehu Liezietsu, MLA from 10th Northern Angami-I Assembly Constituency, has been distributing rice and dal to senior citizens and needy in his constituency since Thursday to mitigate their hardships during the nationwide lockdown that has been imposed to combat the Covid-19.

It has been informed that the MLA and his team have been distributing 10 kg of rice and four kg of dal to each and every senior citizen living in the constituency, 2000 of them were said to have benefitted since it started on March 26.

The team also distributed pamphlets containing the ‘dos and don’ts’ of the Covid-19 to the public besides giving away hand sanitisers at 20 colony junctions.

Liezietsu said the people were facing hardships due to the lockdown and restrictions to combat the coronavirus. “To keep them healthy and peaceful during this period of unprecedented restriction, we have been distributing rice and dal to the senior citizens,” he said.

“We will continue to distribute the same to the needy soon and our people should not suffer for want of food,” he added.
