Dimapur, June 19 (EMN): Eight years after Malala Yousafzai was attacked in her school bus in the Swat Valley in Pakistan, the 22-year-old education activist graduated from Oxford University today (June 19).
The nobel peace prize winner described her joy of graduating through a Twitter post on Friday. She said that she would Netflix, read and sleep for now.
A Taliban gunman shot Yousafzai in the head in 2012 when she was 15 after campaigning for girls’ education in Pakistan. She then moved to Britain for treatment, after which her family settled in Birmingham, central England.
She won the Nobel Peace Prize along with Indian activist Kailash Satyarthi “for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education.”
The youngest ever Nobel prize laureate continues to speak out for girls’ education.
