Manipur bags AIFF’s Best State Grassroots Award

IMPHAL — The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has awarded the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) with the Best State AIFF Grassroots Award in the inaugural AIFF Grassroots Awards 2023-24 for its continuous efforts in promoting football at the grassroots level.

“The credit for such a memorable award from AIFF goes to the district level football associations for their respective successful grassroot activities,” said Moirangthem Ratankumar Singh, president of AMFA, on Friday during a press conference.

Ratankumar stated that AMFA’s focus on grassroots development, together with district associations, facilitated the state’s receiving of the award. He added that since 2006, AMFA has effectively implemented grassroots programmes in accordance with AIFF directives, positioning the state as a frontrunner for the award.

Ratakumar also assured that AMFA will continue to develop football in Manipur so that the state remains the ‘factory’ of footballers of India and enables many talented players to ply their trade in the I-League and Indian Super League (ISL).
