DIMAPUR — Displaying the unwavering commitment to restore normalcy in Manipur, the Assam Rifles (AR) operating under the Spear Corps of Indian Army assisted in reopening of INA Memorial High School in Gothal village of Churachandpur district in association with the local administration, more than 10 months after it was closed since the onset of violence in Manipur on May 3, 2023.

An update from the Ministry of Defence said that the AR had been working relentlessly towards resumption of classes, considering the importance education for students, and helped shift the school to a new location, while ensuring safety of the assets.

“Stationery articles were also distributed to over 250 students coming from 15 remote villages. The initiative will help these children to resume their education after 10 turbulent months and prevent loss of one academic year for them,” it said, adding that the initiative was successful because of trust and faith of local population in the AR.

It added that the AR has managed to bring back a sense of security and normalcy in one of the worst affected areas of the ongoing violence in Manipur, through its consistent and unceasing efforts.
