Marian statue arrives at SFS Parish in Kohima
KOHIMA — The statue of Mother Mary, which has been carried to various parishes and centres across the state to seek her intercession for the success of the Kohima Diocese’s upcoming golden jubilee celebration, arrived at St. Francis de Sales (SFS) Parish in Kohima town on Wednesday.
Rev. Fr. Mathew Mhabemo, parish priest of SFS Parish, stated on the occasion that Mother Mary is the patron of the Diocese of Kohima and announced that the jubilee celebration will take place on October 28 and 29 at Mary Help of Christians Cathedral in the state capital.
Fr. Mathew shared that it has been a year-long journey for the statue, named ‘Mary Help of Christians’, that visited Catholic churches across different districts.
It will stay at SFS Parish for five more days before being moved to Catholic institutions in Dimapur.
During the statue’s veneration in Kohima, parishioners offered flowers, kissed, and touched the statue of Mother Mary holding baby Jesus and a rosary, adorning a Naga traditional shawl.
A Marian service is scheduled to take place at the church from September 28th to October 3rd, commencing daily at 5 pm.
