DIMAPUR — MGM College, Dimapur, celebrated its eighth freshers’ day at the college auditorium on Saturday, welcoming the new batch of students.
The event was attended by Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, as the guest of honour, according to an update.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasised the importance of going beyond academics in the pursuit of personal and professional growth. He encouraged the students to excel not only in their studies but also in developing a diverse range of life skills to prepare them for future challenges.
Drawing from his own life experiences, Dr. Chang illustrated that education is not confined to the classroom and stressed the importance of cultivating qualities such as leadership, communication, and resilience.
He highlighted the need for a holistic approach to education that nurtures both intellect and character.
During the event, outstanding students from the previous semester were recognised for their achievements. Awards were presented for the categories Best Library User and Best Attendance.
As part of the event, Yelem from the department of Education was honoured with the title of Miss Freshers, while Nahong, also from the department of Education, was named Mister Freshers.
