MGM School conducts annual games and sports meet
DIMAPUR — MGM Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur, conducted its annual sports and games from November 18 to the 21st at Sewak Grounds, Midland, with KV Nagraja Kumar, Chief Engineer, Project Sewak, as the guest of honour of the inaugural ceremony held on November 19.
In his address, the guest of honour lauded MGM School for giving emphasis to sports and games activities, besides their excellent academic performance and activities, an update stated.
Kumar exhorted the students that participation in sports activities not only keeps one fit and healthy, but helps in overall personality development and growth as an individual.
He also said that in today’s world where most people are spending too much time on social media, one must select a sport as a hobby and try to play regularly. He further encouraged the students to participate in games with sportsman spirit.
Earlier, the guest of honourr also hoisted the school flag and took the salute from the march past contingents.
Delivering the presidential address, Fr. Giju George encouraged students to engage in physical activities to develop a healthy mind and body.
In his welcome address, the school principal, Reji Abraham urged the students to make best use of their time and assured that the school is trying its level best to provide opportunities to students in the area of games and sports.
The four-day sports event witnessed competitions in different disciplines like races, football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, tug of war, shot put etc. The students were divided into four houses, with Red House emerging as the champions.
