Ministers respond to starred questions

KOHIMA — Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Home, Y Patton stated that Nagaland Police does not have a comprehensive transfer policy covering constabulary, non-commissioned officer and non-gazette and gazette officers. He, however, informed that broad guidelines for transferring personnel are mentioned in the Nagaland Police Manual.

He stated this in a written reply to a starred question on the first day of the fifth session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in Kohima on August 27. He informed that currently, there are 518 gazetted officers in the Police department.

The tribal composition of the gazetted officers showed that Ao community has the highest number with 131 followed by Angami with 104, Lotha with 67, Sumi with 57, Chakhesang with 42, Zeliang with 21, Konyak and Chang with 12, Phom and Yimkhiung with 11, Khiamniungan with 8, Pochury with 7, Rengma and Kuki with 6, Tikhir with 2, Kachari and Garo have nil gazetted officers. It also stated that others category have 11.

The total tribal composition of non-gazetted officers, non-commission officers, constables, non-combatant employees stands at 20,877. According to Patton, Ao community has 3642 followed by Lotha- 3030, Sumi-2495, Konyak-1722, Chakhesang-1661, Angami-1615, Sangtam-870, Yimkhiung-726, Zeliang-582, Chang-552, Phom-550, Khiamniungan–485, Rengma–362, Kuki–257, Pochury–200, Kachari–155, Garo–24 and Tikhir–20.

As for the tribal composition of posted strength under IGP (Nagaland Police Telecommunication Organisation), the total has been recorded at 1392.

Meanwhile, the minister in-charge of Power, KG Kenye, informed that there are a total of 763 (OMS) and 44 (MTS) staff under the department of Power from 2018-2023.

The minimum qualification required for OMS meter reader, OMS billing assistant and OMS telephone attendant is class 12 passed, while OMS vehicle driver (with driving license), OMS store keeper, OMS sweeper, OMS jugali, OMS fixed labour and MTS requirement is under matriculations.

The minister-in-charge and Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, informed that there are 3980 Anganwadi workers (AWW) and 3980 Anganwadi helpers (AWH) in the state. He stated that an amount of INR 500 each for AWW and INR 250 each for AWH is transferred to the respective accounts of the AWW and AWH, whoever has fulfilled the eligibility criteria as per the Ministry of Women and Child Development guidelines.

During the FY 2022-23, a total of 27 AWW and 46 AWHs were eligible for the incentives and payment was made to them through Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT). The eligibility list is auto-generated in the POSHAN Tracker App, Rio said.
