DIPHU — The body of a 12-year-old girl, suspected to be raped and murdered, was recovered from the Ruipi Langso waterfall area under the jurisdiction of Dolamara Police Station, Karbi Anglong, on Tuesday evening.
The minor girl was reportedly travelling back to Dolamara with one Dilip Rongphar of the same village on a motorcycle on January 26. The girl used to stay at Dolamara with a family for education and had gone to her village for Christmas holidays.
When she did not reach Dolamara, her worried parents filed a missing complaint at the Dolamara Police Station on January 26. After five days of searching by family and relatives, her body was found near the waterfall.
Based on suspicion, the Dolamara police have taken into custody the suspect, Dilip Rongphar.
