DIMAPUR — Neiketuno Sechü, one of the top 8 finalists and winner of Miss Popular subtitle at the Miss Grand India 2024, which recently concluded in Jaipur, Rajasthan on Aug. 11, was given a rousing reception by the Rüzaphema Students’ Union, family members and well wishers on her arrival at Dimapur Airport on Tuesday.

Various other organisations including the Sechii Khel of Ruzhaphima village, Chakroma Students’ Union, Ruzhaphema Youth Organisation, CMD Youth Department Block 4, Chakroma Youth Organisation and Meraki Entertainment Nagaland, felicitated the beauty queen.

Speaking to the media, Sechü, who also won Miss Nagaland 2023 and Miss Chümoukedima 2023, said that, “this is just the beginning as there’s still more yet to come.”

Expressing heartfelt gratitude to the people of Nagaland for their unwavering support, she said that to be among the top eight finalists and earning the subtitle of Miss Popular for her state is “incredibly fulfilling” and exceeded her expectations.

She attributed her success to her late father and shared that though he passed away before she went for the competitions, yet he was always a beacon of inspiration for her. And despite his suffering, he always encouraged her to do well she said and added that his final words have been a constant source of motivation.

When asked about the expenses to enter beauty pageantries, she acknowledged that they can be quite costly. However if one is truly passionate about something, one will find a way to make it work, she said.

Sechü also expressed gratitude to those who sponsored and supported her financially, acknowledging that she would not be where she is today without their help.

On the growing number of beauty pageant platforms in Nagaland, she replied that there are indeed many pageantry events in the state. However, she believes that pageantries offer more than just a platform to showcase personal beauty but also teach valuable life lessons in etiquettes and many other things that both women and men should know.

When asked about her future plans, Sechü said she intends to continue participating in pageants as well as work on upcoming campaigns.
