Miss Nagaland 2022 received at Kisama; cultural show concludes
Dimapur, Dec. 10 (EMN): The last cultural programme of the 23rd Hornbill Festival 2022 organised by the department of Culture concluded with the director of Ministry of Cultural, government of India, Deepak Israni, as the chief guest and state minister of Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir, as honoured guest at Kisama on Saturday.
Starting the afternoon show, Rengma cultural troupe performed a folk dance described as ‘Sükhunki,’ which was performed by both men and women and involves jumping and leaping accompanied by a sustained war cry. The dance is performed during the Rengma premier festival ‘Ngada’ festival. It was followed with three ladies from Angami cultural troupe, who presented action song ‘Tsaho Kroko.’
The ‘Wangala’ dance, performed by Garo cultural troupe from Ekranipathar village, mesmerised the tourists through their dance that signifies the thanksgiving to the sun god or ‘Misi Saljong.’ Others troupes included Garo, Zeliang, Lotha, Sumi, and Ao tribes.
The crowds received the new Miss Nagaland 2022, Hikali Achumi from Zunheboto district, 1st runner-up Kenei Ritse from Phek district, and 2nd runner-up, Jentiren Jamir from Mokokchung district.
In the morning session, the deputy chief minister, Yanthungo Patton, was the host where cultural troupes from Chakhesang, Pochury, Sumi, Kuki, Ao, and Kachari presented songs and dances. The Chakhesang cultural troupe demonstrated the significance of ‘Sűkrűnye’ and the activities held during the feast of merit. They threw a piece of meat to the audience and received by a lucky person.
Advisor of Prisons, Printing, and Stationary, H Haiying, special secretary (Home), SR Saravan; and other dignitaries accompanied the deputy chief minister.
