DIMAPUR — Union Minister of State (MOS) of Road Transport and Highways and Civil Aviation, General (Dr) VK Singh (Retd.), visited Mon district and held a review meeting of NH projects in Mon district with the district administration and head of offices in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Mon town on May 1.
Speaking at the meeting, the minister stated that local contractors are better for development and quality works as they have more knowledge about the district. He encouraged the members to introduce entrepreneur workshops and train people who want to get into such businesses so that they could take all types of contracts, stated a DIPR report.
He stated that after 2014, the central government gave greater attention to Northeast and added that connectivity is better and things are moving well now. He urged the members to reach the lower level where the development is poor and ensure that government activities are implemented in quality.
Report stated that the minister also visited the District Hospital in Mon after the meeting.
S Phangnon Konyak, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, welcomed the Union Minister of State, HoO of Mon district and expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for his visit to Mon.
Temjennaro Longkumer, ADC of Mon (HQ), gave a brief description of Mon district. The programme was chaired by the deputy commissioner of Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma.
