Naga peace talks set to resume; NSCN-IM, WC-NNPG leaders camping in New Delhi
DIMAPUR— The National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) delegation is set to resume peace talks with the central leaders in New Delhi after a brief gap.
A source told Eastern Mirror that NSCN (IM) leaders had left for the national capital on Monday, July 10. However, the exact date for the team’s meeting with the leaders of Indian government is not known.
Meanwhile, the leaders of Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPG) have been camping in New Delhi for a few days now. They have reportedly met with the government of India’s interlocutor for Naga peace talks AK Mishra and few other central leaders.
Although the details and outcome of the meetings were not known, the source told this newspaper that it was more about updating each other (about stands on the Naga political issue).
It is also not known if the delegations of the NSCN (IM) and the WC-NNPG will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah this time, the source added.
It may be mentioned that Shah had said during his visit to Nagaland in February this year that the BJP-led central government wanted a quick solution to the decades-old Naga political issue.
The Framework Agreement, which was signed between the GoI and the NSCN (IM) will complete eight years next month, on August 3, while the Agreed Position signed between the Centre and the WC-NNPG will be six years on November 17. However, no positive outcome has come out of the two agreements so far.
