Naga political groups affirm to resolve political issues

DIMAPUR — The Ato Kilonser of the Khango-led NSCN/ GPRN (K), Hokato Vusshe, asserted that the political dialogue with the Government of India (GoI) would be initiated soon to resolve the Naga political issue.

Vusshe stated this during the 78th Naga Independence Day celebration held at its council headquarters, Thamsao designated camp on Wednesday. Addressing the nation on the historic occasion, Vusshe spoke at length upon the contemporary political issues affecting the Naga people and asserted that the political dialogue with GoI would be initiated soon to resolve the Naga political issue, a press release from the NSCN through its MIP stated.

“It is very unfortunate that some misguided Nagas are trying to suppress the NSCN. However, the NSCN will not succumb to any decisive forces or play to but will defend the integrity and the underlying principle of the NSCN at all cost,” Vusshe affirmed.

While extending his greetings to the people, he also spoke about the various historical accounts and the prevailing issue of the Naga national movement.

Report stated that its president, Lieut. Gen. (retired) Khango Konyak, hoisted the Naga national flag and followed with a military salutation.

Obituary moment was also observed with silent prayer for the departed souls of national workers.

A song was presented by women folk of Tamkoang village.

The auspicious programme concluded with a prayer said by AS Nyahli, kilonser of Religious Affairs. The programme was also enchanted by a folk dance performed by Yongkhao cultural troupe.

It further stated that NSCN/GPRN (K) also celebrated the 78th Naga Independence Day at its CFSB office, wherein the Naga national flag was hoisted by the Chaplee kilonser.

In a related programme, the Niki Sumi-led NSCN/GPRN celebrated the 78th Naga Independence Day at the premises of CFSB office in Padumpukhuri, Dimapur, on Wednesday with its Kilo Kilonser, Mhonbemo Tsanglao, as chief guest, who also unfurled the Naga national flag.

Addressing the gathering, Mhonbemo made a clarion call to the Naga people to unite in order to achieve their dreams and aspirations for self-determination.

Reflecting on the history of Naga political movement, the chief guest stated that despite all the intolerable hardships and sufferings, the forefathers never backed out but stood firm with bravery and courage to fight for what was rightfully belonged to the Nagas, the inherent rights to live as free people and free nation.

He added that despite all the inhuman atrocities committed upon the innocent Naga people by outside forces besides dividing them into different boundaries without their consent, the Naga forefathers were able to withstand all hurdles and continued to fight against the oppressors because there was unity and trust among them.

He regretted that the present Naga society has failed to emulate and follow the footsteps of the forefathers because of disunity and mistrust nurtured by external forces, which has fragmented the society.

He called upon all sections of Naga society to do away with blame games and mistrust but come together as one people in unity to carry forward the quest for the cause of the Nagas.

Report stated that a one-minute silent prayer was observed in memory of the martyrs.

Inovi Naga, cabinet secretary, read out the president’s speech, while Viputo Chophy, additional secretary and HOD to MRA, presented a song.

Kilonser and prayer convener, Hotoli, said the invocation prayer for the celebration, while Uketo Chophy, kilo secretary, delivered the welcome address and Khutoli Chishi, deputy kilonser, conducted the presentation ceremony.

Atsu Yim, deputy kilonser, delivered the vote of thanks and Viheshe, kilonser of MRA, said the benediction.
