DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Police has arrested 18 individuals and registered 15 cases in a series of state-wide operations to crackdown on illegal substances across the state over the last fortnight.

According to a press release posted on the official social media handles of the state police force, the operations were conducted from June 16 to the 30th in order to combat the menace of widespread availability and usage of synthetic drugs and psychotropic substances and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and its effects on the youth.

Intensive checking of vehicles (MVCP), raids and checking of hotels, restaurants, etc., has been launched to prevent any such illegal activity, it said.

These efforts resulted in six cases related to narcotics and psychotropic substances, leading to nine arrests and the seizure of 94 Spasmo Proxyvon and other tablets, 308.89 grams of brown sugar, and 950 grams of opium.

Another eight cases of 708 bottles of IMFL were seized, resulting in registration of eight cases and the arrest of eight individuals.

In another operation, police seized a .32 calibre pistol, one magazine, and seven rounds of live ammunition, leading to one arrest.

Further, the Nagaland Police reiterated their appeal to the public for assistance in combating illegal activities and urged anyone with information regarding the sale or distribution of narcotics, drugs, IMFL, or illegal firearms to contact their nearest police station or the Narcotic Police Station.
