Dimapur, June 21 (EMN): To mark the World Motorcycle Day, which fell on Monday, June 21, the Nagaland Motorcycle Club (NMC) reached out to 217 field staff of the Power department in Dimapur, Kohima and Tuensang.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, the president of Kohima Unit shared that, during this pandemic, the state government and NGOs are doing a great job but when ‘we give things to frontline workers, we tend to forget the work-charge and field staff like PHE and Power department unintentionally’.
He shared that the NMC which has its units in Kohima, Dimapur and Tuensang, raised more than INR 1 lakh from the members of the club after an informal conversation three days ago and reached out to 217 field-staff of the Power department, majority of whom are work-charged employees.
‘We gave the amount to few staff workers at their respective offices in Tuensang, Dimapur and Kohima today in the presence of their officers,’ he informed.
He said that they would try their best to reach out to more people in future.
The NMC also said that unlike most government servants who are able to work from home or are getting respite from attending office since last year due to the pandemic, electrical field-workers and some in other departments have been taking up additional risk to ensure that electricity is not disrupted in the state.
‘NMC, as a small gesture of our appreciation and gratitude to their invaluable service, collected a sum of INR 1,08,500 from among the club members from Kohima, Dimapur and Tuensang and given away to be distributed to field staff of the Power department,’ they stated.
“NMC pray that God protect them from accidents and the novel coronavirus along with their family members as they go about discharging their duties diligently for our comforts. Together We Can!” they added.
