Nagaland Covid-19 cases reach 2657

The number of Covid-19 cases among armed forces personnel in Nagaland continued its upward swing with the detection of 56 more on Friday.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases among the armed forces personnel in Nagaland stands at 1173.

On Friday, Nagaland recorded 77 new Covid-19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 2657.

This was informed by the minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, in an update on Friday.

‘Tested 707 samples for Covid-19, out of which 77 cases came out positive—seventy-four cases in Dimapur, three in Kohima. Necessary contact tracing have been activated and all primary contacts are in self-isolation,’ the minister tweeted.

Out of the 77 cases, 56 were armed forces personnel; three returnees; 15 traced contacts; and three frontline workers.

According to Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, the total active cases were 1,824; and there have been seven deaths so far. As per the severity of symptoms, 1,823 active cases are asymptomatic and one active case is moderate.

“Further, out of the 2,657 positive cases, the distribution across various categories of people are: 1,173 cases from paramilitary/military, 1,051 cases from returnees, 185 cases from frontline workers, 195 cases are traced contacts and 53 cases are others.

“Till date, a total of 27,592 samples have been sent for testing through RT- PCR and results of 25,892 samples have been received. In addition, a total of 18,152 samples have been sent for testing on TrueNat and 559 samples have tested positive which have been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR. A total of 2,161 persons are presently under facility quarantine,” he informed.
