Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): Nagaland Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi said during his visit to Zunheboto on Friday that every farmer should get the get the value for their produce and urged the Agri and Allied departments to encourage them to take up other income-generating activities such as cattle rearing and poultry.
He said this during his interaction with the district administration, district heads of department, and leaders of civil society organizations, political parties, NGOs and the business community at the DC’s conference hall, Zunheboto, according to an update from PRO Raj Bhavan.
He also urged the officials to ensure that every farmer gets access to soil card, seed, manure, pesticides and other assistance, maintain income statistics of the farmers, help them increase production, and focus on bamboo products.
Memorandum submitted
During the meeting, the CSOs submitted a memorandum, apprising the governor about the people’s yearning for peace and early political settlement. They also urged him to take up the pathetic road connectivity in Zunheboto with the state government.
Expressing concern on the menace of extortion and illegal taxation by various groups, the governor said that the public should come out in one voice to stop it once and for all. He added that “something good would come out soon in the interest of the public”.
He later held a security review meeting with Police, Assam Rifles and SIB of the district.
