DIMAPUR — Khiamniungan Baptist Churches Association (KBCA), in collaboration with Nagaland State Disability Forum (NSDF), has organised a workshop on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016, at KBCA conference hall in Noklak town on Friday.
An update from KBCA stated that the program was supported by the office of the State Commissioner for Person with Disabilities (SCPD), Nagaland.
The programme was chaired by Chongtin, headmistress of CHS, Noklak, while an invocation prayer was said by Langshen K, pastor of BCT.
It stated that a short sharing on ‘Voice of PwDs’ was shared by M Heno, president of PwDs Union Noklak, while a song was presented by Sangchiu. It added that speeches were delivered by Arikumba, DC of Noklak; Dr Victor, CMO cum MS of District Hospital, Noklak; and Hemping, CDPO.
Resource persons Vikengunu Fatima Kera, who is also the president of Nagaland State Disability Forum, and Ashe H Kiba, programme coordinator of SCPD, have highlighted on some important aspects of PwDs. They have shared on the aims and objectives of NSDF and scenarios of PwDs in Nagaland. The resource persons also encouraged the churches, administration and the people in the community to extend support towards the welfare of PwDs.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Hempao, executive secretary of KBCA, and benediction said by Laam, associate women pastor of LBCNT.
Report stated that a total number of 63 persons including PwDs, parents, church leaders and officials from different departments have participated in the programme.
