Nagaland: Kohima College expels student arrested for rape of minor

DIMAPUR — The Kohima College has expelled with immediate effect Vilie Mere, a student of BA 1st semester, from the college following his arrest on July 29 by Kohima Police for the rape of a minor.

Mere was arrested from his residence at Tsiesema Basa Village and subsequently confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The college’s principal, faculty, staff, and students expressed their shock over Mere’s crime and condemned the heinous act in a statement. The college has urged the law enforcing agencies to give him exemplary punishment as per the provisions of the law.

The college also extended sympathy to the victim and her family and prayed that the Almighty grant them strength to overcome the tragedy.
