DIMAPUR — Nagaland launched the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra on Wednesday. The primary focus of the yatra was to reach out to people, create awareness and provide the benefits of various welfare schemes.
The schemes encompass sanitation facilities, essential financial services, electricity connections, access to LPG cylinders, housing for the underprivileged, food security, proper nutrition, reliable healthcare, and clean drinking water.
In Mokokchung, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra was launched in Ungma village under the initiative of district administration.
The president of Ao Senden, Chubawati Longchar, who was also the chief guest, administered the Viksit Bharat pledge during the launch event.
Highlights of the day’s event included sharing of success experience from the beneficiaries, presentation of outstanding achievers award to Alila from Onchenna SHG and presentation of folk dance.
The programme was presided over by EAC (Hq), Vitolu, while the assistant commissioner and district nodal officer of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar, briefed the gathering on the significance of the yatra.
At the event, stalls were set up by cooperative sectors for better and closer connectivity with the consumers.
Similar programme was also held at Khensa community hall.
In Dimapur, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra was launched by the deputy commissioner, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, in Indisen village.
Speaking at the programme, Dr. Chang informed that Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, spanning from November 15, 2023, to January 26, 2024, aims to raise awareness through outreach activities to achieve the saturation of schemes. He added that the initiative was intended to spread awareness about the government’s schemes and to ensure that the benefits of flagship schemes reach the targeted beneficiaries at the grassroots level in a time-bound manner.
In Tuensang district, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra was inaugurated in Sangsangnyu block with events held in Tuensang and Ngangpong villages.
The programme saw the attendance of beneficiaries from NSRLM, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, who also shared their experiences.
Report stated that the participants have pledged for the success of the yatra. The programme included cultural presentations and the felicitation of accomplished women from both villages.
On-the-spot services were provided by the Health department, NKY Tuensang, IOC Ltd, and DHEW Tuensang.
The event was led by nodal officer of Sangsangnyu block and EAC, Toking Yimchunger, and BDO of Sangsangnyu block, Ebou Chang.
