Nagaland: Music industry leaders, state’s musicians to converse online

The Task Force for Music and Arts (Tafma) will be reaching out to musicians through a digital programme “summit sessions,” which will be conducted starting today, June 2 till June 7 from 7:00 pm onwards.

The Tafma’s advisor, Theja Meru told Eastern Mirror that the objective behind the initiative was to give an opportunity to the musicians and the industry in general to engage with industry leaders. “This is part of our initiative towards building strong and wholesome music ecosystems.” He also stated that the organisers hope to inspire musicians with real life stories and teach them new perspectives about the music business.

Meru remarked that all the resource persons are more than willing to help the state’s musicians. ‘Over the years, Nagaland has made many friends and music has brought lots of goodwill for our people and state,’ he said.

Meru informed that the organisers are working towards creating content for “our virtual world music day celebrations on June 21.” “We are also contacting resource persons to conduct special sessions to help the music fraternity through online classes,” he added.

The resource persons are Padmashri Shri Kailesh Kher, singer and composer; Uday Benegal, musician and writer; Heena Kriplani, Tunecore-India head; Sandeep Chowta, music director and producer; Radhakhrishnan Nair, publisher and editor of Rolling Stone India; and James Asher, Worldbeat Artist and producer.
