Lok Sabha MP seeks fish seed centre, veterinary college
DIMAPUR — Coinciding with the discussions on the demand for grants for various ministries currently underway in the Lok Sabha, S Supongmeren Jamir, MP Lok Sabha from Nagaland, raised the need for the establishment of a fish seed production centre and a veterinary college in Nagaland. According to an update, he requested the Union Minister of the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying to include these projects under the Demand for Grants of his Ministry.
SEC notifies on vacant ULB wards
DIMAPUR — Following the nil elections to the 14 town councils of Mon, Aboi, Naginimora, Tizit, Tobu, Longleng, Tamlu, Noklak, Tuensang, Longkhim, Shamator, Kiphire, Pungro and Seyochung, with no poll held on the scheduled date as notified in the election programme dated April 29, 2024, the State Election Commission (SEC) has notified that all the wards under the aforesaid town councils have been declared vacant. Accordingly, having regard to Rule 81 of the Nagaland Municipal Election Rules 2023, further necessary steps as regards the holding of elections for the resulting vacancies shall be subject to Section 26 of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023, a DIPR report stated.
Public Accounts Committee meeting on Aug. 13
DIMAPUR — Advisor and chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts, Mhathung Yanthan, has scheduled the oral evidence meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), with the Police, Industries and Commerce, and DUDA departments on Aug. 13 at 11 am. The committee will take oral evidence on the audit para of the government departments on the state finance audit report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of lndia 2020-2021, the NLA secretariat stated in an update. The AHoDs and the HoDs of the concerned departments have been informed to be present on the specified date to tender evidence before the committee. All the concerned committee members have also been requested to attend the meeting.
DC Tuensang notifies on land acquisition
DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, has notified that the land from Km 39 to Km 106.650 and from Km 118 to Km 120 on NH-202 under Tuensang district is required for acquisition for the widening of the existing single-lane road to a two-lane road with paved shoulders. In an order, the DC informed that if any person/party has a claim or objections over the said area, the same may be submitted to the office of the DC within a period of ten days, with effect from Aug. 5.
Dimapur Police recovers unidentified body
DIMAPUR — Dimapur Police on August 3 recovered the body of an unidentified man aged 35–40 years lying on the roadside at Westyard colony. In a press release, the PRO, Dimapur Police, informed that the deceased, about 5.3 feet in height, was wearing blue pants and a striped long shirt (black and white). On completion of all legal formalities, the dead body was shifted to the District Hospital Dimapur morgue for postmortem examination and identification. Claimants, relatives, or friends of the deceased are advised to contact the officer-in-charge at Sub-urban PS (7085055026).
NSCN (IM) recovers two-wheeler
DIMAPUR — The NSCN (IM), Union Territory, on Monday informed that it has recovered a 125cc two-wheeler bearing registration number NTORQ, chassis number MD626AK33L2H13838 and engine number AK3HL2613762. In the press release, the UT, NSCN (IM) asked the rightful owner to contact 6909708962 and claim the vehicle within seven days by producing the original documents.
