Nagaland: Rural Development officers reminded of their social obligations

Dimapur, April 22 (EMN): While reminding the officers from the Rural Development department of their certain liabilities and responsibilities towards the government and the people, the minister of Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir, has urged them to be sincere and prompt in discharging their duties towards the rural mass.

Jamir stated this during the inaugural function of a two-day workshop on rural development programmes for RD officials held at the Directorate of Rural Development in Kohima on April 22. Jamir called upon all districts and blocks to ensure that all officers and staff diligently attend seminars and trainings organised by the department.

Jamir further urged the offers to continue learning and upgrade their knowledge so that they remained updated with the new schemes and guidelines issued by the ministry, an update from RD department stated.

Also speaking on the occasion, the RD commissioner and secretary, Neposo Theluo, mentioned that the Financial Year 2021-22 had been a challenging and difficult year. He, however, expressed satisfaction to note that some districts have performed well despite all problems.

As many of the officers are working without proper experience or knowledge of schemes being implemented, he has suggested the need to conduct more trainings and workshops to update themselves in order to perform better. Reiterating the importance of using the right nomenclature of schemes, Theluo also requested the officers to go through the permissible list of schemes under MGNREGA so as to familiarise themselves with the right nomenclature of schemes.

The RD director, Liboni Humtsoe, delivered the welcome address.

The two-day workshop would include sessions on VDB fixed deposit and micro finance, PMAY-(G), RGSA, XVFC, presentation on Amrit Sarovar, scheme nomenclature, timely payments, NMMS, AO App, GIS, SECURE, BRO, Geo-MGNREGA, Moringa convergence and NREGA-Soft MIS issue, the report added.
