Nagaland: 76 patients recovered so far; tally of active cases at 87

Dimapur, June 13 (EMN): Twenty-seven more patients, who are being treated at Covid-19 hospitals in Dimapur, were declared ‘recovered’ on Saturday, taking the tally of recovered patients to 76 so far.
According to an update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, the current recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in Nagaland is 46%.
Meanwhile, seven more Covid-19 positive cases have been reported, taking the total number of cases to 163 in the state.
‘Seven new cases of Covid-19 positive have been reported out of 216 samples tested. Six from Mon quarantine centre and one from Kohima quarantine centre,” the minster for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, tweeted.
Nagaland recorded its first three Covid-19 positive cases on May 25.
As per the Health department’s update, there are 87 active cases, all asymptomatic, in the state and no death so far.
According to the state government’s daily Covid-19 briefing presented by spokespersons, Neiba Kronu and Mmhonlumo Kikon, a total of 5,945 swab samples have been tested so far. Results for 1,329 samples are awaited.
As of June 13, there were 6,774 persons under facility quarantine, and 1,775 persons under home quarantine.
“We would like to inform that the infrastructure installation at the BSL-2 lab in Dimapur is in the final stage of completion. Thereafter the verification and registration process with ICMR will start and the lab is expected to become functional soon.
Augment Covid-19 capacity in Dimapur
“Earnest efforts are also being made to augment the Covid-19 capacity in Dimapur by coming up with Covid care centre (CCC) for management of asymptomatic positive cases and to decongest the Covid-19 hospitals. One CCC at SIHFW at Chümoukedima to be managed by CIHSR will be functional in the next 2 days. Further, to augment the capacity of Covid-19 facilities, a 50-bedded Covid-19 hospital has also been operationalised by the Assam Rifles at ARTC, Shokhuvi,” they informed.
To supplement the medical manpower of Dimapur, five medical officers are being deployed out of the 27 doctors that were recruited recently, they added.
“Further recruitment is in progress, and more manpower will be deputed as and when recruitment to newly created posts of doctors and nurses takes place. It may also be mentioned that private hospitals are also providing medical manpower in the management of various quarantine centres. Further, many churches, NGOs and volunteers are selflessly rendering non-medical tasks at various quarantine centres in Dimapur.
“The District Hospital, Dimapur already has a TrueNat machine, which can test 40 tests per day. Two more Quattro TrueNat machines are being provided to Dimapur district in the next few days to further increase its capacity to test,” according to the update.
On the issue of returnees who have exceeded their required period of stay in the institutional quarantine centres in Dimapur, top priority is being accorded for testing and processing for their release, it stated.
Curfew in Mon containment zones
In an order issued on the night of June 12, Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K, has declared Wangkhao College campus and ITI campus as ‘containment zones’. The order comes after six returnees from Chennai tested positive for the virus in the institutional quarantine centre in Mon town.
Likewise, the deputy commissioner has also clamped Section 144 CrPC, prohibiting all movement of public within 1 km radius of the containment zone. The restriction will remain in force until further orders.
