Nagaland University delegation win awards at Agartala meet
DIMAPUR — A 10-member delegation from Nagaland University’s (NU) School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Medziphema Campus, comprising four faculty members and six research scholars, led by Prof. N Tiameren Ao, head of the department of Plant Pathology, attended the National Conference and Indian Phytopathological Society (IPS) Zonal Meet at the College of Agriculture (COA), Agartala, from September 26 to the 28th.
According to an update, the event brought together scientists, academicians, and policymakers from across India and Bangladesh to discuss pressing issues in agriculture, innovation, and sustainability and featured oral and poster presentations across various thematic areas.
During the event, Nagaland University research scholars secured top honours in their categories. Nitisha Chettri from the department of Horticulture and Chumchanbeni Ngullie from the department of Plant Pathology received the best oral presentation award in Horticultural Sciences and Crop Protection.

Tasnim Majumder from the department of Genetics and Plant Breeding received the best poster presentation award in crop science and crop production.
Faculty members also received accolades: Dr. Niranjan Kumar Chaurasia, assistant professor in the department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, received the best oral presentation award, while Dr. Nayan K Adhikary, scientist at AICRP Vegetables (Plant Pathology), received the best poster award.
During the inaugural function, Prof. Bireswar Sinha, faculty member of plant pathology at SAS, Nagaland University, had his edited book, Cereal Diseases, released by the Governor of Tripura, Indrasena Reddy Nallu.
