Nagaland Zoological Park holds awareness and conservation programme
Students along with the officials’ in Nagaland Zoological Park, Dimapur on March 10.

Dimapur, March 11 (EMN): Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP) in collaboration with the Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi as part of week 52 of the ongoing ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, held an awareness and conservation programme of Blyth’s Tragopan, the state bird on March 10.

Aochuba, director of Intanki National Park and the special invitee, exhorted the gathering of school students and teachers from Beanstalk school, Lengrijan on the importance of the species in focus “Blyth’s Tragopan” and its conservation, a press release informed.

He also informed on how to identify the state animal and state bird and further explained the important role students can play in the combined efforts of the department and the public towards protection and conservation of wildlife in the state.

Dr. C Zupeni Tsanglai, director of NZP, gave the welcome address and interacted with the students on the awareness and conservation of wildlife. The programme was chaired by Watisungla Amer, range forest officer (NZP), while Vinoto K Rochill, forester-I, NZP delivered the vote of thanks.

Earlier, painting competition on the theme ‘State Bird of Nagaland’ was also organised on March 8, where the winners were felicitated with certificates and cash award.
