Nagaland’s Covid-19 cases breach 500-mark

The number of Covid-19 positive cases in Nagaland breached 500-mark as 42 new cases were detected on Wednesday.

The minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, updated in a series of tweets on Wednesday that 42 new Covid-19 cases were detected in the state out of 235 samples tested and 14 patients (10 from AR Hospital, Sukhovi and 4 from DH, Dimapur) were declared recovered. He added that all the fresh cases were from quarantine centres: Peren- 31, Phek- 8, Kohima- 2, and Dimapur- 1.

“As on today (on Wednesday), the total number of positive cases in the state stands at 501. Out of this, the total active cases are 319, and 182 have recovered. All the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated Covid-19 Hospitals. As per the severity of symptoms, all the 319 active cases are asymptomatic,” informed Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha in his daily briefing.

“Till date, a total of 12,268 samples have been tested. Results of 11,630 have been received. Out of the total of 12, 268 samples, 8,070 samples have been received at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and a total of 7,881 samples have been tested, out of which 388 samples have tested positive. In addition a total of 5,669 samples have been tested by TrueNat, out of which 110 samples tested positive and sent for confirmation by RT-PCR,” he added.

It was also informed a total of 4408 persons are presently under facility quarantine.
