Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): The Covid-19 cases in Nagaland breached the 900-mark as six more people tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, taking the state’s tally to 902.
This was informed by the minister of Health and family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, through an update on Wednesday afternoon.
“Out of the 170 samples tested, 6 new positive Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Dimapur,” the minister tweeted.
Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha informed in his daily briefing that all the positive cases were receiving medical care at the designated Covid-19 hospitals and Covid-19 care centres. Further, active surveillance and contact tracing is in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection, he added.
“Out of the 902 positive cases, the total active cases are 554, and 348 have recovered. As per the severity of symptoms, 539 active cases are asymptomatic and 15 active cases are mild.
“Till date, a total of 17,127 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR. Results of 16,802 samples have been received. In addition, a total of 10,895 samples have been sent for testing on TrueNat. 10278 samples have tested negative, and 327 samples have tested positive which have been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR,” Sinha said, adding that a total of 2,953 persons are presently under facility quarantine.
“If anyone develops any signs and symptoms of cough, fever or difficulty in breathing, he/she may contact the state Helpline Number 1800 345 0019 of the Health and Family Welfare department,” he added.
Pharmacist in Chümou tests positive
A pharmacist was tested positive for Covid-19 in Chümoukedima on Wednesday. This was confirmed to Eastern Mirror by a government official.
The official informed that the positive case has been admitted to the Covid care centre in Dimapur while the family members of the patient were placed in isolation for testing.
“All protocols have been put into motion immediately and contact tracing is being conducted at this point,” informed the official.
